look, diapers are meant to hold quite a bit. Make sure you change her before bed, put on A %26amp; D ointment that way it keeps some of the moisture of her bum. I wouldn't sugget changing her in the middle of the night, it only wakes her up like you said. besides a slightly wet diaper isn't going to harm her in the middle of the night!

however, if you do change her, try to do it with very little light or non at all, don't even talk to her. go about feeding and such and put her right back to bed. The less stimulation the better.

Good luck ;-)
Reply:If its wet or poopy it needs to be changed. Would you like to hang around in all that all night.
Reply:i wouldnt wake the baby up to change them, as long as you change them as soon as they wake up it should be fine, i have seen some new kinds of diapers that are supposed to be made for overnight if youre having problems with leaking diapers, but if not i dont think its a problem as far as uti and skin problems, my son is 15 months old and i dont change him in the night and he has never had a uti and doesnt get diaper rashes... good luck
Reply:diapers need to be changed as soon as they are dirty (as opposed to when they are full or feel wet) for young babys its usually about every three hours.

change her after her night time feeding then put her to bed
Reply:I wouldn't leave it on for 10 hours but if you are using ultra absorbant, overnight should be fine. I leave my son's on for the 7-8 hours he sleeps at night. He's never had a problem. Girls are a bit different than boys though. My girls didn't sleep through the night so I didn't have this problem : ) but If you are really concerned talk with her dr. You don't have to go in or anything. Just call and ask if you let her sleep in the same diaper overnight if it will cause any infections.

You could also change very gently and heat the wipe so it doesn't disturb her. I am able to do this without waking my son, so maybe give that a try?
Reply:Change the babies diaper before you put them to bed. Make sure to use some diaper ointment -- this will help to keep the acids from the urine from causing a rash during the night. If your baby does wake up, change them again. If they don't wake up - I would not wake them up to change a diaper unless of course the bed was wet or they were obviously poopy. My son has "NEVER" had a UTI or skin discolorations , he is 20 months old. If dryness is an issue, they do make "nighttime" diapers that seem to use more absorb-able gel that do keep them dryer at night. Your friend is trying to help. However, she has her children %26amp; apparently no sleep. You have your child, use your judgement %26amp; your doctor's advice smile %26amp; say thank you to your friend for her thoughts. You will do fine -- A lot of small things seem scary at first.
Reply:I make sure my son has a fresh diaper put on him right before he goes to sleep. I also put some Palmer's Bottom Butter on him(he's allergic to Desitin and all of those). When he wakes up to eat, I change him. He's awake anyway, and I would think it makes him more comfortable.
Reply:Put on a fresh one right before bed, then I wouldn't wake her to change her diaper. If she's sleeping let her. If she wakes for a feeding, change her. With the way diapers are made anymore, you could probably leave them on for days.(I'm not saying to do that LOL)
Reply:change her diaper before you feed her at night , and if she doesn't wake up to feed count your blessings and just make sure you put on some diaper rash ointment before you put her to sleep
