So in the last 6 months or so I've developed two weird skin discolorations... one is on my arm and is about a quarter the size of a dime. The other one is at the bottom of my ribcage and is the same size. They're both white in comparison to my skin... the only thing I can think they would be is cancer cause I have a large history of it in my family... but I'm much younger than any of my relatives were when they found out... any ideas?
Anyone know about cancer?
Go have a doctor check it out. It's pretty easy to diagnose, and also pretty easy to fix, if detected early.
Reply:Skin cancer runs in my family, and I had some cancerous cells removed at age 25, so my rule of thumb is if it looks weird, just go to the dermatologist to be safe.
Reply:Go to the doctor?
Hmm...maybe you got drunk, fell asleep, and someone put money on your ribcage and arm. Then while you tanned, the money shielded the covered skin.
Reply:I'm sure that you could find out a lot of information if you check out websites like Web MD. Also, if you're that concerned go and see a dermatologist. My boyfriend's brother had a cancerous growth on his face at only 25 years old. You're never too young.
Reply:The only way to be sure is to have them checked out by the doctor. However, there are certain signs that can point towards the likelihood of skin cancer. Skin cancers usually have irregular borders, shapes, and colors. There are alot of other things that those discolorations may be, but best thing to do is get them checked out. ;)
Reply:I know that I was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer. I was operated on and the cancer has been gone for three years. I had an Orchiatectomy done(Removal of Testicles). I live each day happy to be alive, but at the same time afraid that it will come back somewhere else. Get checked by a Urologist for your peace of mind. My prayers go with you and all who think or know they have cancer.
Reply:You might have Tinea Versicolor which is a skin fungus. It's very common. You can treat it with over the counter anti-fungal cream like Clotrimazole or Miconazol. If that doesn't help then go to a dermatologist. It doesn't sound like skin cancer so relax.
Reply:Don't wait any longer. Go to a dermatologist and have them looked at. It is probably nothing, but you need to have someone take a look.
