Its missing patches of fur... but there is no discoloration .. or blood... just looks like hes losing his fur... maybe dry patches.... Help
Pitbull with Skin problem, should is see a vet?
could be demodex. how old is your dog? i would take the dog to the vet to find out what is going on. any time an animal is losing patches of fur, it is not normal.
Reply:Yes, you need to see a vet. Could be several things, but it will take observation by a trained person to determine what.
Reply:Yes!! Bullies (pibbles especially) are prone to different skin diseases!! You may just need to switch to a lamb and rice formula or rabbit and rice....which will help...BUT DEFINITELY CALL THE DOC!! Could be a symptom of something serious!
Reply:Pitties are VERY susceptible to both mange and several skin issues. Mine used to have patches of missing hair due to allergies. I switched their diets, and the patches grew back in. You still need to take him in to a vet, though, becuse mange can kill if left untreated. Good luck, and also look into some good, holistic foods, such as innova evo, or a raw diet, for your pup.
Reply:i have two apbt....and both of them have severe skin problems as puppies! after a bunch of testing at the vet, they concluded they were both allergic to pinestraw and grass. that's NOT a good thing when you live in east texas where all we have is pine trees! either way....they both get steriod shot's once a month during the spring, summer, and fall. now both of their coats are beautful
Reply:she might just be continually scraching that part and she is loosing hair. Also the collor is constantly on her ( well most of the time) so that could cause her to loose hair. i would go to the vet just to make sure everthings okh
Reply:yes go see wat the problem is
Reply:My pit bull ended up having a food allergy that affected his skin. The vet said this happens all the time with this particular breed. I had to change his diet and he got a lot better.
Go to the vet, they can diagnose what's wrong with your pet better than anyone else can.
Reply:I agree with everyone. Take himi to the vet. APBTs are susceptible to allergies and mange and other skin problems. My APBT actually used to have dry skin and then had mange but know after about 8 dips and Nutro his skin is beautiful. Good luck.
