Do over-the-counter acne scar fading products work as well as going to a dermatoligist?

I don't have deep scarring, but I do have like little discolorations on my skin. I've seen like in avon catalogs, products that say 4 times use of their product is like a derma-brasion. Is this true?

Generally speaking, commercial at-home kits are not as effective as the professional in-office scar-removal procedure. In your case, for superficial discolorations, the dermatologist may recommend a light chemical peel or a series of microdermabrasion treatments. I believe you can try some at-home microderma or AHA products (since you say your imperfections are superficial), if you choose the right product you will have good results. the most popular microderma brands are Neutrogena, Susan Lucci, Olay, Pond's, Dermanew and Mary Kay.

Hope this helps and good luck.
Reply:Dermatoligist will only offer u laser treatments or a perscription strength scar remover. To tell u the truth, the best scar treatment out there is Mederma. Its not to expensive and it works just as good as any perscibed dermatoligist perscriptions.
