I had skin grafting surgery done about 5 weeks ago after having burnt myself pretty badly in a fire. The skin was taken from the front of my leg ( about 5in x 8in) and used to cover portions of my arms. The donor site has healed except for that it is still a baby pink color. I am wondering if anyone can tell me what to expect from here on out? Does the skin ever look normal again? Will the discoloration of the donor site and grafting sites ever go away? I feel like im the only one in the world with this. If you have any insight on ways to help the process or what to expect... please let me know.
What should I expect after having Skin-Grafting Surgery?
The pinkness is a normal part of skin healing so don't worry about this. With time this will go away and you will have normal skin maybe a little scarring. You should go back and see your doctor who performed the graft and have a chat or see your local doctor/nurse so you can ask lots of questions and put your mind at ease.
