a few drops popped on to my skin and it hurts. now it is pink and the skin is kind of leveled outwards comparing to the rest of my skin. i don't get any blisters like other people but i'm worried about the discoloration, will they go away and how long will it take? also, what degree burn is it?
Boiling oil got on my skin?
The discoloration should go away after a few days. You should put cold water on it to help the pain. It's probably a second degree burn. Sunburns and very minor burns are first degree, and second degree burns are usually just the top layer of skin, and can be from things like cooking burns etc., if it was a third degree burn they are usually black, and there is dead skin on the top which they are very serve, and usually require medical treatment, and can even require skin grafts.
Reply:try to leave them alone and let them heal by themselves=that way you should not have any scaring
Reply:Probably 2nd degree burn - which means more than just the first layers of skin are affected but there's no severe tissue damage/charring of the flesh.
This also means it's more susceptible to infection than 1st degree, so get some antiseptic stuff on it.
Discoloration will take months to go down, and may never go away entirely.
Reply:The dicoloration should go away soon. I suggest you leave it uncoverd so it will heal and not become infected.
P.S- I believe it would be a 2 degree burn.
Reply:Dont worry it doesnt sound too serious. If it was me I would use a combination of zinc and a very good vitamin E oil. I don t know where your from but if you recognise "sudocreme" its excellent for anything like that, and only you can tell, but personally I would put the zinc-(sudocreme) on first , and then use the Vit E Oil to prevent scarring. Hope I helped
Reply:Also, you should probably keep the area out of the sun. You could get 'hyprepigmentation' which will go away, but may take a while.
Lavender and Aloe sometimes help.
